To the accompaniment of a fanfare of trumpets ... the new Head Post Office was formally opened at 3.0 p.m. on March 19 ... Inside the building the visitors were shown the fan-shaped office with its modern and attractive counter fittings; the telegraph office, the administrative offices and latest standards in staff accommodation. Faced in Portland Stone the outside of the building presents in its restrained design a fitting addition to Worcesters' [sic] many fine buildings and an appropriate complement to "the Faithful City".
