Year: 1901 Selected bibliographical references Tiverton Gazette 21 Aug 1900, p. 8 Western Times 14 Oct 1901, p. 3 History Opened: 14 Oct 1901 Building description From: Tiverton Gazette 21 August 1900, p. 8 Most probably the new Post Office for Crediton will be erected in Market-street between the last house in the row of houses and the police-station. The plans show the frontage to be 86ft., with a width of 37ft. There would be large public and sorting offices, with telegraph, telephone, and battery room; also postmaster’s office, stores, postmen’s kitchen, men’s, women's, and boys’ retiring rooms, and usual offices with open yard. Above these premises there would be a postmaster’s residence, containing 12 rooms. The new erection would be in every way adapted to the requirements of the postal business - the premises being spacious, well-ventilated, and capable of further development should occasion arise. |
