COLDSTREAM POST OFFICE

Year: 1898 History Opened in 1898 with the previous Post Office being a shop in the High Street which is now a local newsagents. It remained an operating Post Office until the early 1980's. It was described at the time as "large and commodious" with the entrance on Victoria Street which is a cul-de-sac of around 100 yards in length running at right angles to the High Street. The building also housed a good sized sorting office located behind the counter and public area. On the upper level to the rear it also housed a telephone exchange. (Information supplied by John H.
