The above sketch shows the front elevation of the new building which is in course of erection in Brandon Street, Hamilton, to provide accommodation for the increasing business of the Post Office The site in Brandon Street, which has been acquired by the Government, extends through to Lamb Street, and will be wholly covered by buildings. The front building in Brandon Sheet will, as shown in the sketch, be three storeys in height. The buildings at the back and to Lamb Street will one and two storeys respectively. On the ground floor are provided a public office, a sorting room, postmaster's room, telegraph delivery room, store rooms, &c. The first floor of the building is to be set apart for the Surveyor Taxes and his staff, and the second floor contains the telegraph instrument room, &c. The architect for the building is Mr W. W. Robertson, H.M. Office of Works, Edinburgh, and the contractors are Messrs Miller & Ferguson, builders, Motherwell. The estimated cost is £5OOO.
