Current use: Retail premises Building description From: North Devon Journal 1 July 1869, p. 8 On Tuesday the new Post Office was opened for transaction business. Greater accommodation and convenience have been studied in the erection of the new building to meet the requirements of the increasing importance of the town. The building is a handsome structure, and ornament to the locality in which is situated, and reflects great credit on the architect, Mr. W. Oliver, and the builders, Messrs. W. Gammon, W. Home, and J. Pulsford, of Barnstaple. is erected on the site of the old Post Office in High street, and Mr. Stockfish, the postmaster, must congratulate himself on having such an improved building for the transaction of the postal business. |
