Improved postal facilities for the Montpellier district are provided by the new premises at Rotunda Terrace. The new office has been provided in order to secure such a coordination of the different branches of work as will mean economy in the expenditure of public funds, better conditions for the transaction of business with the public, improved working conditions for the staff, including the advantages of better natural light. The frontage of the new office, the lounge [sic] portion of which consists of polished Hopton Wood stone over polished black Belgium marble, presents a pleasing feature in the line of shop fronts in Rotunda Terrace. The interior of the spacious public office has been attractively laid out. The floor as been covered with a rubber carpet, and the woodwork generally, with the exception of the top of the counter, which is of Honduras mahogany, is carried out in oak. All the metal fittings, such the posting box plates, counter grille, door-handles, and finger-plates are in bronze and light stone. The walls are painted in a light stone colour. A new design is to be found in writing desks fitted with black glass tops. A recessed telephone call office cabinet and a screened section of the counter for the transaction of Savings Bank business are special features which immediately attract the attention of the observant visitor. The new premises are heated by means of a central-heating system. The office will adequately provide for the postal, telegraph, and telephone requirements of the district for many years to come, and is one of the most up-to-date post offices in the country. The provision of the new premises was carried out on the recommendation of Mr. C. A. Jackson, Post Office surveyor, South Wales district, and the work was under the direction and to the specifications of Mr. W, H. Ludlow, A.R.1.B.A., Secretary's Office, G.P. 0., London.
