T. & I. Hodgson, builders. A street, 35 feet in width, will be opened out between the present post office and the new structure, and the latter will have a frontage of about 82 feet. The ground floor, with the exception of a portion occupied by the entrance to the postmaster's house above, will be entirely devoted to the post office. The principal office will be about 65 feet long by 30 feet broad, and 14 feet high. At the rear will he two rooms for the use of the officials. The building will be a substantial structure, with a front of Borrowdale stone, and light-coloured freestone dressings. Mr. J. Wood, C.E., Carlisle, is the architect |
