There seems to be some disagreement in the documentation as to to the architect of the building was and as to when it was built. The Royal Commission on the Historical and Ancient Monuments of Wales publication "An architectural walk around Aberystwyth" states that the post office was built in 1901 by T.E. Morgan. However the Commission's online database of historic sites in Wales (Coflein) records that it was built "1906 by Daniel Thomas, dated 1901, referring to the accession of Edward VII to the Throne." Thomas Edward Morgan (b. 1857) was an architect working in the Aberystwyth area, so may it be presumed that he was the architect of the post office?: this link states that he was. The Daniel Thomas connection derives from W.J. Lewis's book Born on a perilous rock: Aberystwyth past and present (Aberystwyth: Cambrian News, 1980) , in which he declares "The Post Office in Great Darkgate St. was built by Daniel Thomas, the draper, in 1906" (p. 14),  and "In 1906 it was decided to give it a much more impressive home in Great Darkgate St., the one which it still occupies. It was built under the direction of Daniel Thomas, a draper in Eastgate ... " (p. 146)
