Hitherto the local Post Office had been situated in private property, and with the gradual extension of postal work frequent changes have had be made, and at length, tired of shifting about to premises at best were ill adapted for requirements, the authorities resolved on building a suitable place for themselves. A site was obtained in Horse Market Street, and here the new office has been erected. It is a massive and up-to-date structure. The frontage, which is about 50 ft. in length, is built of Cullaloe freestone, with granite base rising about 3 ft. The length from the front to the back of the site is 138 ft. The various departments have been fitted up in the most approved style, and the office is such as will meet the requirements the town in every way. |
